The Eagle Has Landed!

Hello from Amman! After a ‘brief’ flight from Colorado Springs to JFK and then on to Amman, I’m here. Actually the trip went better than I had imagined. Long for sure – but not excruciating – so that’s a good start. It was about 4 hrs. from the Springs to JFK, then a 6hr. layover followed by an 11hr. trip to Amman (13hrs. return, ugh).

As soon as I got to the hotel tonight I ran into Elias Chacour, Archbishop of the Melkite Catholic Church in Palestine and three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee. He and I sat in the lobby together and processed many issues regarding faith, religion and world peace. It was good to see him again and catch up on all the changes in our own corners of the world in which we labor.

He is a man of great credibility and I’m hopeful that this can be the beginning of something powerful regarding the establishment of an ongoing – post conference – global forum. We both acknowledge the challenges of getting disparate faiths to celebrate (rather than merely ‘tolerate’) one another. But we also hold hope that it can be done.

Things get kicked off tomorrow a.m. with a breakfast meeting of those of us who are sponsors/contributors to the conference. Then we’ll have registration beginning around noon and get things started with the opening ceremonies at 3pm. I deliver my keynote lecture Wed. at 5:30pm.

However, between now and then I’ll be posting on some of the things taking place and try to give those of you interested a good feel for what’s transpiring.

The issues covered in this conference will be ambitious indeed, but I’m at least pleased to have a seat at the table regardless of how quickly we begin to see substantive changes.

Keep the conference in your thoughts and prayers – and please know I feel as though all of this blog community is with me and I’ll be doing my best to represent your love and passion for humankind.

I’ll be back in touch soon… even though it’s only morning in the Springs, it’s late here so I’m off to bed.

Blessings everyone!

Tim

Thanks for letting us be flies on the wall…! “You are THERE”..!

My prayers are with you and this critical gathering … may it be aligned with God, and manifest the heart of God … may it be contagious, viral, unimpeded…!

    But of course.

Waiting for the reports with bated (baited? abated?) breath!

  2. Tom Crenshaw says:

Glad you made it safely. Looking forward to your updates. I’m quite sure you will have a very successful trip. Just be yourself and all will go well.

  5. Don McClendon says:

Thanks, Tim, for “checking in” with us and letting us know how your travel went. We love the updates, as this community definitely feels a part of this conference. Get some rest, be refreshed, and if you just do what God has given you the ability to do naturally, and we will see ambition transform into reality. Great prayers and encouragement already posted. A big amen.

    Tim,
I know you sre very busy over there but please don’t forget to bring a nice gift back for me.

  7. With faith-filled love and joy-filled expectant hope I am looking to be surprised by the fruits of this conversation and celebration. Mind you, I am not looking to be surprised THAT there are fruits, of this there can be no doubt, only to be surprised in HOW they manifest. Shalom, Tim, deep, deep peace.

  8. Cathy Loeppke says:

    Tim,
You, your message, the conference, and your ongoing work were the focus of our prayers yesterday as we gathered with a small group of faithful, loving & hopeful people. So glad to be a part of this movement of potentiality and promise!
I’m releasing continued prayer for the pathway of peace to open through the awakening and manifestation of uncommon Love and compassion!
    Blessings and peace!

Thanks all… except for my brother Doug. No, no gift for you! Even if it is xmas time:-) Plus, no room in my suitcase. BUT, it doesn’t stop ‘you’ from getting a gift for ‘me.’

  10. Dena Brehm says:

    Doug, you make me grin…!

    (you gonna be in Baytown?!?)

  11. Bob says:

    Dena,

Doug doesn’t have any choice in the matter. He has to come to Baytown. We aren’t going to let Tim speak unless he does. But only if he brings his lovely bride with him.

Looking forward to hearing you, too!

I guess while we’re on the topic and since Tim hasn’t promoted the conference on this forum that I’ve seen, the group in Baytown Texas will be hosting their annual conference Friday evening thru Sunday morning. We always have had it the weekend before the Super Bowl, but Tim had a scheduling conflict, so it will be Super Bowl weekend. There will be a Super Bowl party at the building for those who might be tempted to opt out because the timing.

Ya’ll are cordially invited to hear a nice variety of speakers. For more info, you can check out the group’s website – KnowingTodaysGod.com

Check it out. You’ll know some of the speakers and some will no doubt be new and refreshing for all.

If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email at wvbob@cebridge.net. The email listed on the website is for Rick who is in NC right now. He recently lost his mother and is needing to help his elderly father adjust to their lost.

    Tim,

Since you showed your true colors with your older brother, how about getting something for your favorite cousin named Bob. He would do the same for you if the shoes were reversed.
