No ‘New Year’ in Gaza

At the end of this week I’ll be joining with a small group who will be embarking on a trip to the Middle East to meet with Jewish, Muslim and Christian leaders working for peace.

The situation there is wrought with innumerable challenges. To help give you an inside perspective, I wanted to share this poem with you that was written by Samah Sabawai. She is a writer, playwright and poet from Gaza.

I hope you are moved by it and feel compelled to pray for peace in Gaza and around the globe.

The Eagle Has Landed!

Hello from Amman! After a ‘brief’ flight from Colorado Springs to JFK and then on to Amman, I’m here. Actually the trip went better than I had imagined. Long for sure – but not excruciating – so that’s a good start. It was about 4 hrs. from the Springs to JFK, then a 6hr. layover followed by an 11hr. trip to Amman (13hrs. return, ugh).

As soon as I got to the hotel tonight I ran into Elias Chacour, Archbishop of the Melkite Catholic Church in Palestine and three-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee. He and I sat in the lobby together and processed many issues regarding faith, religion and world peace. It was good to see him again and catch up on all the changes in our own corners of the world in which we labor. Continue reading…
